Montrealer, Clair Boucher’s synthy, RnB, Dream-pop beats seem perfect for such false and fleeting weather as this. Although her musical mash-ups seem eclectic and more than a little a.d.d, her wicked voice still manages to soar and skip across the melody. With a number of sold out shows under her belt, i’m sure Ms. Boucher has quite the future to look forward too.

Her newest album, Visions, incorporates influences as wide as Enya, TLC and Aphex Twin, drawing from genres like New Jack Swing, IDM, New Age, K-pop, Industrial and glitch. Press Play: SBTRKT

SBTRKT’s latest self-titled album gets airplay in store at least once a day. It seems only appropriate for this masked musician/producer from London to kick off Press Play, our weekly music focus. All of the top dj’s and critics sing his praises and seem obsessed with his syncopated synthy beats. “Wildfire” is currently the most popular track off of the record, and features the vocals of the equally quirky Little Dragon.

The interwebs is flooded with full streams of the album so be sure to check it out. And if you want an up close and personal dance session, SBTRKT and his main man Sampha will be hitting the cymbals over at The Hoxton this Thursday night. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a Drake showing. The black Maybach parked outside is usually a dead giveaway.

Nearly a solid month of amazing effort and teamwork has brought our store together from the ground up. And in the spirit of growth and creative development we’ve created a space to showcase all things visionary, cool and up-and-coming from around Canada and the world. Twice a week we hope to update you all on our latest trends, best sellers, item-of-the-week, new music, cultural events and all the good stuff in between.
